OLM Food Solutions is currently searching for a Purchasing Analyst to join our growing team!

The Purchasing Analyst is responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our business. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed analysis of spend and inventory data, processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance, and liaising with inventory teams and management. The purchasing analyst will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand. The Analyst should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget. Knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous.

Responsibilities: 

  • Delivers on KPI's for desk specific goals such as: Service Level, Days-Inventory-On-Hand (DIOH), Excess and Obsolete inventory (E&O) and Spoilage.
  • Analyzes economic order quantities, forecasts, lead times, vendor set-up, safety stock, etc., in-order to create efficient purchase orders with our suppliers.
  • Proactively reviews projected out of stock report daily to ensure we deliver on customer order fulfillment.
  • Communicates closely with our cross-functional partners to capture seasonal trends and events in the business as well as drive profitability with accurate costs.
  • Partners appropriately with product/category management team to maintain supplier relationships and proper accountability.
  • Establish sharp communication with internal partners on supplier production delays or order shortages, while pursuing recovery options with urgency.
  • Collaborates with internal and external business partners to reduce overstock, slow-moving and obsolete inventory, as well as initiate product returns where applicable.
  • Utilize understanding of product shelf life and manufacturing dates in the prevention of spoilage for specific buying categories.
  • Cooperates with the logistics team to identify and achieve freight consolidation in order to maximize net income.
  • Evaluates inbound volume and purchase history to collaborate with warehouse operations on efficient receiving practices.
  • Executes forward-buy opportunities to achieve profitability for period or year-end based on targeted goals.
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
  • Process purchase orders and update the status of the orders.
  • Research, select, and purchase quality products and materials.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Arrange transportation of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
  • Analyze category and product performance regularly.
  • Coordinate with inventory team, management, and warehouse as required.
  • Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.

Experience & Education

  • Education and/or Experience. Bachelor's Degree in finance, business, or Supply Chain Management and 2 years relevant experience, or a combination of experience and education preferred.
  • Should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing principles preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using an ERP system (SAP, Oracle, NetSuites, etc)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must have a general understanding of logistics and connection in support of an efficient distribution model.
  • Must be able to deal with high pressure situations to meet daily/weekly timelines with a high sense of urgency.
