The first licensed Hot Stuff location opened in Webster, SD, on December 17, 1986,and today there are more than 1,100 Hot Stuff Pizza franchises and licenses operating in the United States, with dozens of others in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Orion is currently searching for Plant Manager to join our growing team!

Job Summary 

This position is responsible for overseeing daily processing operations demonstrating commitment to employee safety, product quality, and teamwork.  Position is responsible for the collection and analysis of daily data generated in all areas of Production activity.


  • Manages plant staffing based on approved Employee Headcount plan.
  • Estimates appropriate level of staff necessary to meet business and budgetary goals and objectives.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and other reports and statistics to plan and modify production activities.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and achieve greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Verifies that production activities are performed in compliance with Orion Foods policies and procedures and OSHA regulations.
  • Works with all Departments to maintain an audit/tour ready facility. Ensures facilities are audit/tour ready in compliance with Orion Foods policies and procedures, FDA/USDA regulations, and customer specifications.
  • Monitors quality, safety, scheduling, personnel and mechanical status of the plant.
  • Direct and manage plant operations for production to include USDA, Cheese & Sauce and Bakery.
  • Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Develop and control profits, plans, and budget.
  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.
  • Manages capital asset maintenance.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
  • Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
  • Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High energy, enthusiastic, core values, and company philosophy.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Internet, Spreadsheet, Word and Order processing, and Inventory software, preferred.
  • Previous plant management experience, food processing experience, manufacturing knowledge and understanding of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations procedures, preferred.
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
  • Ability motivate, train and coach employees to encourage optimum performance and engagement.
  • Good planning and priority setting skills.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving, math, and analytical skills.
  • Good planning and priority setting skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team to the product is high quality and produced on time.
  • Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.

Education and/ Or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of seven years of experience in food manufacturing management in a process-oriented operation and/or related industry. 
  • Minimum of five years experience managing a significant segment of large food manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer.
